This 166-mile route offers guests the opportunity to explore one of the best motorcycle museums in America: Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum (62 Vintage Lane, Maggie Valley). The staff at the museum take great pride in showing guests that every motorcycle in the museum will still start up and run. The route normally takes about 5 hours. Guests will need to allow for time to tour the museum when planning their schedules. The museum is in Maggie Valley, which offers riders plenty of options for lunch. This route also gives guests a chance to sample some miles on the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.
The Cherohala Skyway Route is approximately 180 miles in length and gives guests a true mountain experience with 14,598 feet in total elevation. Depending on pace, the route will take about 5.5 to 6.5 hours, as it travels through North Carolina and Tennessee. The roads making up the route will offer plenty of high-altitude scenic overlooks for photos and many rural towns along the route. If guests find themselves in Andrews, North Carolina, near lunchtime, consider the Hoppy Trout Brewing Company for a meal.
To fully enjoy the Smokey Mountain Lap, make plans for an early start. The route includes some great roads like the Dragon, Foothills Parkway and Newfound Gap Road as it winds through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There is an opportunity for guests to take detour to famous Gatlinburg, Tenneessee, along the way. However, if guests decide to check out the sights in Gatlinburg, they may want to make it quick. Many of these roads can get congested with automobile tourist traffic in the afternoon. The 145-mile route without traffic should take approximately 4 hours. One of the route’s highlights is a visit to Kuwohi. Before 2024, it was named Clingman’s Dome. A turn off Hwy #441 will take you to the parking lot. A half-mile hike will take you to the highest point in the national park at 6,643 feet.
The Double Bucket List Route includes arguably the two most fun motorcycle roads in the eastern United States: the The Dragon at Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort with its famous 318 curves in 11 miles and the Cherohala Skyway with its incredible high mountain riding and majestic overlooks. This route is about 136 miles and should take guests between 4.5 to 5.5 hours, depending on pace. The route contains 11,865 feet in total elevation changes for guests to enjoy. If you are anywhere near Tellico Plains, Tennessee, try the Tellicafe Grill (128 Bank Street) for some southern comfort food favorites. If you want to dine outside, consider the Iron Horse Grille located along the river on Skyway.
A relaxing ride through southern Blue Ridge communities and the Nantahala National Forest is what guests will find on the Highway #28 (Moonshiner) Route. It’s 121-mile route that will likely take between 4 to 5 hours, depending on pace. If guests leave a little early, this is a good route that allow them time to enjoy a creekside lunch at the historical Tapoco Lodge (14981 Tapoco Rd, Robbinsville, NC)
The Adventure Route is big-bike friendly and is designed for guests to enjoy exploring a scenic mountain ride. We have no desire to challenge guests’ riding skills or abilities. The route uses some of the well-known ADV routes in the area, like the Trans-America Trail.
Fontana Village Resort & Marina will be the base of operations for the event.
